Gli mwbaEuphasmatodea,cite-ref-psf-1-0[1]cite-ref-2[2] noti anche con il loro mwdqsinonimo junior mwdgVerophasmatodea sono un mwdwsottordine dei mweaPhasmatodea, che contiene la stragrande maggioranza delle specie esistenti di insetti stecco e foglia, escludendo i mweqTimematodea. La più antica testimonianza di Euphasmatodea è il mweggenere mwewAraripephasma ritrovato nella Formazione Crato del mwfqBrasile, risalente all'mwfgAptiano del mwfwCretaceo inferiore.cite-ref-3[3]

Il sottordine Euphasmatodea era precedentemente diviso in due infraordini: gli Areolatae e gli Anareolatae, in base alla presenza o assenza di un'"areola": un piccolo anello colorato o una fessura nel margine dell'ala. Questa divisione è stata sostituita e il sottordine è ora diviso in quattro superfamiglie: mwiaAschiphasmatoidea, mwiqBacilloidea, mwigPhyllioidea e mwiwPseudophasmatoidea. Quest'ultima include la mwjafamiglia Agathemeridae, precedentemente collocata nel sottordine Agathemerodea.cite-ref-psf-1-1[1]
